Ingredients
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 (15 ounce) can chili (with or without beans)
- 1 1⁄2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1⁄2 cup salsa
- 1⁄4 tsp chili powder
- Tortilla chips, for serving
- Optional toppings: sliced jalapeños, chopped cilantro, diced tomatoes
Steps
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F, allowing it to heat up while you prepare the dip.
- Layer the Cream Cheese: Spread the softened cream cheese in an even layer in the bottom of a 9-inch pie dish or shallow baking dish. Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened for easy spreading.
- Add the Chili: Evenly spread the chili over the cream cheese layer, creating a second layer that adds a savory, slightly spicy kick.
- Mix the Cheese & Salsa: In a bowl, combine 1 cup of the shredded cheddar cheese with the salsa and chili powder. This mixture adds an extra layer of flavor, combining the rich, creamy cheese with the zesty tang of salsa and a hint of heat from the chili powder.
- Top the Dip: Sprinkle the cheese-salsa mixture over the chili layer, then finish by topping it with the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.
- Bake: Place the dish in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish & Serve: Remove from the oven and top with any desired toppings such as sliced jalapeños, chopped cilantro, or diced tomatoes. Serve immediately with tortilla chips for dipping.
